Amman - Al Qalah News.
Daulet Torlihanov, the President of the Asian Wrestling Federation, commended Jordan for its exceptional efforts in hosting the Asian Wrestling Championship for youth and juniors. Jordan's bid stood out among many advanced countries competing for the opportunity, and their subsequent execution of the championship was of the highest standards, meeting all international and Asian requirements for the sport.
In an exclusive interview with Al-Rai, Torlihanov emphasized the historical significance of this championship, as it marked the first time that Jordan hosted an Asian wrestling tournament encompassing Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, and women's wrestling, across various weight classes. The event was deemed one of the largest continental championships in terms of participants, attracting a remarkable turnout of coaches, referees, administrators, as well as heads of Asian wrestling federations and their representatives. The presence of technical, administrative, medical, and arbitration committees further underscored the championship's significance.
Torlihanov expressed his gratitude to the Jordanian Wrestling Federation, led by Mohammed Al-Awamleh and Vice President Abdullah Qutaishat, along with the entire board of directors, for their unwavering efforts and contributions in ensuring the success of the championship. He acknowledged the strong commitment to wrestling demonstrated by the Jordanian authorities, including the Ministry of Youth and the Olympic Committee. Torlihanov expressed his delight in witnessing such dedication, which has motivated the Asian Wrestling Federation to extend its support to Jordan's wrestling development and the expansion of its practitioner base.
Prior to his visit, Torlihanov had reservations about Jordan's ability to organize a tournament of this magnitude, with a substantial number of male and female participants and a large audience. However, his concerns were quickly dispelled upon observing the impeccable organization and meticulous adherence to every detail and requirement of the championship. This positive experience has instilled greater confidence in Jordan's capabilities, leading the Asian Wrestling Federation to consider supporting Jordan in hosting key tournaments in the coming year, such as the Asian Championship for the under-17 and under-23 age groups in various wrestling styles, including Roman, freestyle, and women's wrestling. Additionally, the Federation aims to assist Jordan in various programs that contribute to the sport's development, particularly through training camps and courses that positively impact not only Jordan but also the region.
Torlihanov also praised Jordan's focus on women's wrestling, emphasizing the importance of gender equality in the sport. He acknowledged the significant interest in women's sports in Jordan and expressed hope that relevant authorities would continue to prioritize and foster female participation in wrestling. This includes investing in suitable infrastructure that provides an enabling environment for female wrestlers. Torlihanov emphasized that achieving medals and notable results in wrestling requires a combination of talented athletes, competent coaches, and supportive environments.
In conclusion, Torlihanov's initial concerns about Jordan's hosting capabilities were replaced with admiration for the country's outstanding organization and commitment to the sport. The Asian Wrestling Federation aims to demonstrate its support for Jordan by contributing wrestling mats and equipment, further promoting the growth and development of wrestling in the country.
